Firday - Fuck yeah, it's the weekend!

FINALLY, it's the damn weekend! Finally I can sleep in!

I tried taking a day off school today but my mom wasn't buying it so sent me packing... which I was pissed off about and apparently according to my friends, I looked pissed off all morning.

By afternoon though, the schools crappy Panini's had cheered me up and I forgot all about the morning. The school day went pretty quick and was quite enjoyable. I didn't do much throughout the day (as usual). In English (which takes up two lessons) I just sat and watched all the other pupils read out their oral assessments, which was pretty fun, I didn't have to do an oral assessment because I've already got a C in my oral grades! Ha!

After English I had two other lessons, Wider Key Skills and ICT. ICT went pretty well, again, I didn't do much all lesson. All we had to do was give each other feedback on our work. Wider Key Skills was quite boring though. I don't really see the point in it.

I'm doing Wider Key Skills instead of Fire Fighting on a Friday, as the school can't take us to the Fire Station twice a week. We have two days of Fire Fighting days, Thursday and Friday, but Friday's lesson has been replaced by Wider Key Skills (which, if I complete the course, will give me two GCSE's)

After those four periods had gone, I spent the other two lessons (which should have been PE) in "Turn Around", a behavior room where troubled students can go and talk to teachers about their issues. I was only there because my head of year thinks I take days off school because of PE (which I used to do a lot of the time)

I've also begun sorting out college applications. I'm still indecisive wheather I should go to Mirfield Free Grammar, Huddersfield New College or Green Head. I think I'll probably go for New College because it has the better courses.

That is all for today. Tomorrow is the weekend, so lets see if I'll have anything interesting to post!

Wednesday and Thursday - Nothing special

Wednesday

Nothing really went down on Wednesday. I had a sore throat and was sneezing so I took the day off school which was nice. I slept in which helped my body catch up with the limited sleep I've been getting lately. The rest of the night I played Zoo Tycoon and MW2 like any other night.

Thursday

I went to school today thinking I had an English exam. Turns out the exam is next week, so I went to school for no reason when I could have relaxed at home!

The school day went pretty well though. I have changed rooms/teacher in maths to a much better one which is awesome. Finally I can enjoy maths more, the previous teacher and room sucked ass.

I also had Firefighting today. I dreaded doing practical work, I just wanted to chill around doing written work and have a laugh with everyone, which I love doing. Today though, we were forced to do two hours of drills in preperation for next week, when we will be video recorded doing our drills.

Reason being that we are having a competition with another school's year 11 students called "All Saints". The Firefighters will record us both, then look back on the video and judge who are the better performers. Apparently, according to the real Firefighters, my group are much better! Too right!

In todays drills I was a member of a four man squad. Our squad's role was to deploy a ladder up to the first floor of a tall tower. We then had to climb up the ladder and jump into the tower, which I found scary seeing as I have a fear of heights!

My squad then had to leave the tower and roll out some lengths of hose.

Overall, it was a pretty good lesson.

Tonight I'll do what I always do, Zoo Tycoon 2 and Modern Warfare 2

Tuesday 19 Jan, Poetry Live, Uncharted 2

Yesterday me and a bunch of other people from my school year group went on a trip to Bradford to see Poetry Live.

Poets of the likes of Simon Armitage and Carol Anne Duffy read poems and explained the meaning of them. It was pretty boring, but it was a lot better than going to school.

After returning home I completed Uncharted 2. What an epic game it was, it definitely deserves another playthrough on a higher difficulty.

That's all for tonight.

Monday 19 Jan - Science Exams

I forgot to post this last night, my bad...

Nothing exciting went on yesterday. I had a GCSE science exam yesterday morning and found it pretty easy.

I spent the rest of the night on Zoo Tycoon and Modern Warfare 2, lol.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have a better update ready.

First Blog Post - Exams, Modern Warfare 2, Blackout, Zombies and the Great Freeze!

Ok, so instead of only posting about what has happened today, I'll also post what has happened during the weeks. This will make for a longer, more interesting post. I will start daily postings from Monday 17 January.

Exams

Anyway, let's start off with Thursday the 14th. To my annoyance school was open for students taking GCSE exams only, the other lower years could have a lovely snow day, where as we, the senior students, had to wreck our brains with exams.

As you probably know, this winter has been pretty awesome for snow, giving me a good 7-8 snow days (so far), but these snow days have coincided with my GCSE exams, which I must attend even during snow days!

On Thursday I had a GCSE Science exam on the topics "You and Your Genes", "The Universe" and "Air Quality". My teacher had told me the day before that the "Electromagnetic Radiation" topic will also be in this exam. I spent most of my revision time revising for the radiation part, and it didn't bloody come up in the exam!

Overall the exam was quite easy, with most questions being a tick in a box. I hope I have achieved at least a grade B.

Earlier this week on Tuesday, I had also taken a GCSE Maths examination, luckily it took place on a non-snow day. I revised for three hours the night before and luckily for me, most of the topics I revised came up in the exam. I found the exam to be quite difficult, and I had to skip a few questions. I really hope I get at least a grade D this time. Maths has always been my weakest subject.

The Great Freeze

As I mentioned earlier, Britain, like most of the world, has been gripped in a great freeze. A lot of snow has dropped onto our country, and apparently there is more on the way.

Never have I had as many snow days as I have had the past two weeks. I think since returning from our two week Christmas holidays, I have only attended school for four days - the lucky lower year students have attended like two days!

The best thing of all, is that the snow seems to be coming to my area of Yorkshire mostly, which means more snow days. It is starting to get boring with all the snow around outside, but as long as it closes school, I couldn't care less!

As well as the snow, ice also closed my school on Wednesday, which was pretty damn awesome as I wasn't looking forward to the boring school day ahead of me. I broke my back getting to school. Unluckily, my route to school was entirely UPHILL and ice was EVERYWHERE a long the way. A lot of people say walk on the grass, it won't be slippy; it is. Some people say walk on the road, it isn't slippy; it is. Ice was everywhere. It was like walking up an uphill ice rink, and yes, I fell like ten times - not onto my back though! It took me like ten minutes to get to the top of the hill, when usually it just takes me two minutes.

Once I finally reached the top, I saw a bunch of school pupils walking in the opposite direction - this had to mean school was closed. As I walked past them, a little year seven boy told me school was closed. I was really happy about this, really happy. Though I wasn't happy about breaking my back getting down the hill again!

Blackout

During last weekend, my house was in darkness. What an aweful experience I had.

The weekend started out normal, I was just following my routine, looking forward to spending my day on some Zoo Tycoon and Call of Duty. I went to brush my teeth, and as I did, my houses lights started flicking. I didn't think much of it and left the bathroom and began playing around on my PC. Suddenly, my PC - as well as every other electrical-powered device, stopped working. The lights went out, my lizzards UV and heat lamp went out, my PC turned off - everything went off.

I just thought it was a powercut that we have had many times before, and that power would return with a flick of a switch. Then, as I was stood looking out of the window, I noticed thick, black smoke rising into the air a few houses away from my house. I told both my parents. Me and my mom decided to go out and have a closer look.

When we arrived at the scene of the smoke, we found a bunch of Fire Fighters standing around a hole in the ground, smoke rising from the hole.

We looked around us, everyone's electricity had turned off, even street lamps, and everyone was starting to go out and have a look at what was going on.

Me and my mom then realised that the fire/smoke was coming from an electricity thingy in the ground. Something which powers our estates electricity. Well it had blown out somehow, your guess is as good as mine, and the chances of us getting electricity back in the next few days was apprently extremely unlikely. My mom said it would probably take a week to fix the problem and give us power! At the time, I hadn't quite noticed, but I soon found that I wouldn't be able to play my PS3, watch TV or go on my PC! I was enraged, my mom was too, but only about the heating, which we later found was still working.

What was I to do for the rest of the day?!

I returned to the house with a cold scolap butty which the fishshop owner had given us for free (because it would eventually go off due to no power in his kitchen), it was flippin disgusting, but I guess it's better than nothing.

The rest of the day I just read my Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising strategy guide. I also played a few card games and board games like Ludo with my sister. When it reached 3pm, darkness began to fall and the house went into a sudden darkness. The sun could no longer light our house, so my dad had to light several candles.

He also had a torch which we had to take to the toilet when we needed to go.

To get us out of the house, my sister had an idea for us to go to an Indian Restraunt for a meal, seeing as we couldn't cook anything at home. My dad agreed so off we went. I had to gell my hair in the dark with a torch, it was really annoying.

The Indian Restraunt was a great idea. It got my mind off the powercut, gave me some lovely food to eat, and it gave us something to do, it was better than just sitting in the darkness at home.

After a few hours at the Restraunt, we returned home. On the way, I absolutely dreaded going home to the darkness. The idea of taking a torch to the toilet in the pure darkness was just aweful.

Once we arrived, we found our electricity was back on! I was full of so much joy!

Modern Warfare 2

Over the past few days I have been trying to complete Modern Warfare 2 on Veteran. I wizzed through most of the missions no problem, but I'm really struggling with "Loose Ends" one of the final four missions of the game.

Loose Ends really takes the piss. The first part of the mission is quite easy; all you need to do is camp the back rooms and make sure your ass doesn't get flanked. You've also got plenty of weapons around you so there's no worry about running out of ammo.

After a while of grueling shoot-outs, the objective was finally complete. My next objective now is to run down a large hill with hostiles closing in from all sides, as well as Mortar rounds landing around you.

Bloody hell, how frustrating can this mission get. You need the evasion skills of Neo from the Matrix and a fuck load of luck in order to complete this mission. Fuck you InfinityWard for making such a shitty mission. This has to be my least favorite mission in the whole game.

Zombies

I've been watching 28 Days Later quite a lot recently. I really love that film, it has to be my all time favorite "Zombie" horror.

I just love the realism and the story to it.

I've also begun writing my own zombie survival horror script called "The Infected", I'll probably post more on that another time.

This has nothing to do with Zombies, but it's going along with the apocalypse theme, but Survivors Part 2 is coming out soon! I can't wait!

Way, It's a Blog!

I've noticed a lot of people on Twitter/Blogspot lately documenting their lives, and I thought I'd give it a go seeing as it's a new year and all.

So hey, welcome to my blog. Each and everyday I'll try my best to write entries and explain what I have done in my day to day life. Some people find reading other peoples boring life entries interesting, so here goes.

I'll be typing up entries mostly in the evening, seeing as that is pretty much the end of my day. The rest of the night I usually just chill playing my PlayStation and watching TV.
